HASLO DOES NOT PROVIDE EMERGENCY HOUSING.
HASLO offers several housing options. Most properties have waiting lists due to the extreme need for affordable housing in San Luis Obispo County. A property Wait List may be either "open" and accepting new applications, or temporarily "closed" due to the length of the wait.

Rents restricted Affordable Apartments

The “rents restricted” properties have below market rents, but applicants still have to show they have enough income to pay those rents; whereas for Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and Project-Based Vouchers (PBVs) rent is adjusted based on the applicant’s income.
HUD–VASH Program:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development–Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH) combines Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). VA must refer homeless veterans to HASLO to be assisted under this program.

There are many affordable housing complexes located throughout San Luis Obispo County. Some of these are affiliated with HASLO, and some are not. Because the properties and landlords listed on this sheet work for other organizations, they have different policies with respect to income requirements and waiting lists.
